Joanna Pozen

Joanna Pozen is an international public health lawyer and human rights specialist. She is the Director of NYU’s Health and Human Rights Program at NYU’s College of Global Public Health , where she is on faculty. In addition, she  jointly serves as the Program Director of the Health and Human Rights Initiative at HealthRight International.  She is also the co-founder/co-Executive Director of Restore Health, a non-profit devoted to developing innovative solutions for women living with obstetric fistula.

Joanna brings over 15 years of experience at the intersection of international human rights law and public health to AIPR. She has conceived and led projects that inform the strategic development of public health and human rights policy at the United Nations and at a range of international institutions. Prior to coming to NYU, she served as Legal Advisor to the UN Special Rapporteur for Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, UN Women’s HIV and Health Policy Specialist,  Supervising Staff Attorney and Clinical Teaching Fellow at NYU School of Law’s Center for Human Rights and Global Justice and Adjunct Associate Research Scholar at Columbia Medical School.
