From April 16 to 19, AIPG's Latin American Program (LAP) Director, Eugenia Carbone, visited San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. The purpose of the trip was to gain firsthand impressions and engage in profound consultations with colleagues, partners, and friends regarding the unique human rights situation in the country under the ongoing 'State of Exception' since March 2022.

The visit aimed to provide a comprehensive assessment of the situation and advance the work plan by holding meetings with various public officials from the Office of the Ombudsperson of El Salvador (PDDH). The meetings included Mireya Tobar (Deputy Ombudsperson), Carlos Rodríguez (Civil Rights Deputy Ombudsperson), Ana Ruth Lara (Deputy Ombudsperson for Migrants and Citizen Security), Pablo Juárez (International Relations Officer), and Miguel Muñóz Reyna (Director of the School of Human Rights of the PDDH).
