Dr. Matei Demetrescu joined the Auschwitz Institute in 2020. Prior to this, he worked for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as a Program Officer and Acting Director of the DAAD Information Centre in Bucharest. After completing his B.A. in Political Science in Bucharest, Matei earned a master’s degree in Political Theory at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po). He obtained a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Bucharest in 2013 and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Romanian Academy from 2014 to 2015. Based in Bucharest, he supports the Director of AIPG’s Mediterranean Basin Programs in organizing the Global Raphael Lemkin Seminar for Genocide Prevention, as well as in developing and implementing other programming.
El Dr. Matei Demetrescu se unió al Instituto Auschwitz en 2020. Antes de esto, trabajó para el Servicio Alemán de Intercambio Académico (DAAD) como Oficial de Programas y el Director Interino del Centro de Información DAAD en Bucarest. Después de completar su licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas en Bucarest, Matei obtuvo una maestría en Teoría Política en el Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po). Obtuvo un Ph.D. en Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad de Bucarest en 2013 y fue investigador posdoctoral en la Academia Rumana entre 2014 y 2015. Con sede en Bucarest, él apoya a la Directora de los Programas de la Cuenca del Mediterráneo del AIPG en la organización del Seminario Global Raphael Lemkin para la Prevención del Genocidio, además del desarrollo e implementación de otra programación.
